Part 2: Our RiseFP Winners on “Remembering to Value What We Have” “Building Confidence and Trust” & What it Means to be “Susceptible to Change”

September 13, 2021

As promised, we are back with the second and final installment in our RiseFP winners blog series for H1 2021. In case you missed it, check out blog one here.

The RiseFP Recognition Program celebrates outstanding team members who embody our five core values: Keep It Real, Never Satisfied, Mutually Invested, Be Courageous, and Leave the World Better Than We Found It. The awards celebrate members who live and breathe our values while working with each other and clients. This influences how we see and interact with the world, both within our own agency walls and in our broader communities. The recipients of these awards were nominated by their colleagues and chosen by a curated panel of peers who go through a comprehensive review and selection process to uncover the winners.

To further celebrate the winners, we took the time to capture some knowledge and advice from them:

Keep It Real Recipients:

Sourav Sinha – India

How has ‘Keeping It Real’ helped you in your career thus far?

“I have tried practicing being authentic throughout my career. Initially, it made me feel vulnerable, but gradually this changed to a feeling of self-assurance. This has helped me earn the trust and respect of my colleagues; as a team, now we know our capabilities better, which in turn helps us set realistic targets and helps me and others around me grow, both professionally and as individuals.”

Carey Chum – APAC RU

How has “Keeping It Real” helped you in your career thus far?

“Keeping it real enables me to have less fear of being judged. I am comfortable exposing my work and my ideas, and having the courage to face criticism.”

Will Schiller – EMEA

What’s a piece of advice you’d want to share with your peers, whether it’s something inspirational or something you’ve learned in the workplace?

“If you watch highly successful people, you will notice that they ask a lot of specific and targeted questions to understand issues and tasks quickly. This is not 100% natural for everyone, as many learned to listen and take notes during their education. When learning something new, try to ask a lot of questions while being efficient with your own and other people’s time.”

Never Satisfied Recipients

Amy Wenham – EMEA

What does Never Satisfied mean to you in your every day in terms of your behaviors and beliefs?

“It means always wanting to find a better way to do something, no matter how small. I am the go-to friend for making plans because I create an Excel spreadsheet for just about everything and make sure it’s done in the best way possible. It means being organized, and innovative to achieve the best results.”

Karena Tsoi – APAC RU

What’s a piece of advice you’d want to share with your peers, whether it’s something inspirational or something you’ve learned in the workplace?

“Identify your traits and become aware of how you approach different situations. Embrace what’s unique about yourself while being curious to other perspectives. Magic happens when we connect, learn, and grow together.”

Abhimaan Chandrashekar – India

What does ‘Never Satisfied’ mean to you in your every day in terms of your behaviors and beliefs?

“‘Never Satisfied’ means looking for new opportunities to expand my skills. Making sure we do more than expected while delivering the work helps you to come up with innovative ideas. It builds confidence and trust with the people working around you.”

Mutually Invested Recipients

Bert Lam – APAC RU

What does “Mutually Invested” mean to you in your every day in terms of your behaviors and beliefs?

“There’s something to learn from everyone regardless of titles or position – in return, be open to offer your help to any other teammates when your skillset or experience is needed. An agency can only get better if everyone is contributing to each other’s growth.”

Be Courageous Recipients

Angela Chen – APAC RU

What does “Be Courageous” mean to you in your every day in terms of your behaviors and beliefs?

“I believe that everyone will encounter such a time when the customer’s requirements are too demanding, the performance of the account is not so ideal, or the time seems to be insufficient. These trivial things make up our daily work. Therefore, for me, this award represents an attitude. I believe there will never be a desperate situation and there will always be a positive side. Inspired by this mentality, I can energetically face difficulties and challenges.”

Amily Yang – NA

What does “Be Courageous” mean to you in your every day in terms of your behaviors and beliefs?

“To me, a large part of being courageous is allowing oneself to be susceptible to change, overcoming the fear of being wrong, and acknowledging our shortcomings. This mentality has helped me gain so much more, whether in life or in the workplace – a more multidimensional worldview, meaningful conversations and relationships, and unexpected personal growth.”

Leave the World Better Than We Found It Recipients

Anupama Linganna – India

What does ‘Leave the World Better Than We Found It’ mean to you in your every day in terms of your behaviors and beliefs?

“Having an open mind is very important. It is very easy to be prejudiced about anything, but I feel it is important to be unbiased. The team looks up to their leads for direction most times and that is when we should be able to guide and nurture them appropriately, hoping they grow in their own shoes and treat people rightly. Our actions speak louder than our words.”

Gladys Hou – APAC RU

What’s a piece of advice you’d want to share with your peers, whether it’s something inspirational or something you’ve learned in the workplace?

“Looking at the underprivileged people (especially the elderly) in Hong Kong, I realize that we are lucky to have a job that pays the bills, family to love us, a house to live in and good food to enjoy. We must remember to always value what we have.”
